How It Works
Solid is an open standard that separates your data from the apps that use it. Today, when you use an app, your data gets locked inside that app's servers. With Solid, your data stays in your pod. Apps come to your data, not the other way around.
You choose where your data lives and who can access it. If you stop using an app, your data stays with you. If you want to switch providers, you take your data along.
What You Can Do with Stucco ID
- Log in to any Solid application.
- Create a public profile at url.coop.
- Control who sees your data.
- Export your data anytime.
- Take your identity with you if you leave.
Why should I become a member?
StuccoID members support the community infrastucture that makes StuccoID possible. Members particpate in governance, roadmaps, and deciding how StuccoID can best serve the community.
What's a Pod?
Your pod is your personal data storage space on the web. Think of it like a private cloud drive that you control. Your profile, your links, your content — it all lives in your pod. Apps can read and write to your pod, but only with your permission.
What's a WebID?
Your WebID is your identity on the web. It is a URL that represents you, like a homepage and a login rolled into one. One login, your data, your rules. Instead of creating separate accounts on every service, your WebID lets you sign in anywhere that supports the Solid protocol.
